Excitement is growing in the cryptocurrency market as six asset managers prepare for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) decision on spot XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs). However, there are speculations that the recent meeting between the CEO of Ripple Brad Garlinghouse and President of the United States Donald Trump may mean that there is a positive change to the acceptance of crypto-related investment products under the new administration.
SEC Lawsuit Against Ripple Mysteriously Removed from Website
Amid XRP ETF anticipation, there are reports that the SEC has taken down the information about the lawsuit against Ripple Labs from its website. Several members of the crypto community pointed out that the case was no longer present in the “Litigation Releases” section, while other current court battles, including those against Coinbase, are still there.
Nevertheless, the Ripple case remains available in other parts of the website, namely in the sections “Award Claims” and “Cases on Appeal.” Hogan & Hogan’s lawyer Jeremy Hogan shared his thoughts on the matter on X (previously Twitter): ‘It could be something inside the SEC but this has nothing to do with the lawsuit’. The court doesn’t care what the SEC does on its website.”
The SEC first filed the case in December 2020, where it accused Ripple Labs and its two top executives, Brad Garlinghouse and Christian A. Larsen, of selling $1.3bn worth of XRP in unregistered securities offerings. XRP price is currently trading at $3.09 on CoinMarketCap.
