- Burger chain Shake Shack is offering bitcoin (BTC) as a reward for purchases made at the burger chain using Cash App, a digital wallet offered by Block Inc., per the Wall Street Journal. Customers will receive 15% of their purchase back in the form of bitcoin on any Shake Shack purchase made with Cash Card, a debit card available to Cash App users, or by buying items via Cash Boost, a rewards program available to Cash Card members, it added.

- Football club Manchester City signed a partnership deal with crypto exchange OKX, naming it the Club’s Official Cryptocurrency Exchange Partner. The new partners will collaborate on a number of exclusive experiences for OKX’s global customer base, in addition to an in-stadium presence across the Etihad Stadium and Academy Stadium.
Investments news
- Web3 gaming platform metaENGINE announced it raised USD 4m in seed funding in a round co-led by Lemniscap and Jump Crypto. The idea is that metaENGINE will be a platform that helps GameFi (gaming + DeFi) developers enter the space through tools that can build gaming experiences in the metaverse.
- City-cryptostate project Praxis said it has raised USD 15m in a Series A funding round led by Paradigm to build a new city organized around the computer revolution that allows many to work from wherever they wish. The funds will help continue the momentum as Praxis looks to build out its real estate, governance, and engineering teams.
- Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) invested USD 70m in Lido Finance, a liquid staking provider that makes it easier to stake ether (ETH) and other proof-of-stake assets.
- Sherlock, a startup that promises to protect crypto projects from smart contract hacks, said it is looking to raise USD 100m in a public funding round starting March 7 and lasting for five days. They added that the secondary purpose of this event is to bootstrap Sherlock’s on-chain treasury.
CBDCs news
- The Central Bank of Brazil has chosen nine partners to help develop a digital real, Brazil’s central bank digital currency (CBDC). The initiative received 47 project proposals from Brazil, Germany, the US, Israel, Mexico, Portugal, the UK, and Sweden, the bank added.
NFTs news
- Legendary musicians Bob Dylan and Miles Davis will get their own NFTs later this year through the NFT platform Snowcrash, per MusicWeek. The platform was launched by Jesse Dylan, NFT pioneer Walter De Brouwer, and entertainment executive Jeff Rosen, president of the Bob Dylan Music Company, in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group.

- Bitcoin mining company Genesis Digital Assets announced a new self-hosted Bitcoin mining data center in Sweden that expects to have up to 100 MW megawatts online by 2024, all from 100% clean energy sources.
