Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) do not seem to be losing their momentum as they continue to attract a wide range of users. Now, VCR Group, a hospitality firm based in New York City, has opened NFT offerings for its clients.
The company has announced the launch of a live token sale available to its private dining club in NYC, known as Flyfish Club. The club is exclusive to members only.
NYC restaurant exclusive to NFT holders
The announcement from the company noted that those who wanted to access the seafood restaurant needed to buy their membership through blockchain. This membership will be sold to members in the form of NFTs.
On its website, VCR Group has provided reasons why it has chosen to work with NFTs. The announcement reads, “by utilizing NFTs, FFC is able to create a loyal, member-community that we can provide special experiences for. NFTs create new modernistic financial models, which will allow FFC to deliver an exceptional and sustainable product for years to come.”
The website shows that potential customers select from the two types of memberships listed. One of these memberships is the regular tier that allows members to access the main dining area, outdoor space, cocktail lounge and special events. This membership cost 2.5 ETH, valued at around $8300 at the time of writing.
The second type of membership comes at a higher price. The membership is known as Flyfish Omakase, and it will allow members to access all the offerings available on the regular tier. Additionally, it will give access to a 14-seat Omakase room going for 4.25 ETH.
The website also adds that NFT holders with the Flyfish membership can lease their tokens to those who do not hold any tokens. The tokens can be leased monthly, or they can be resold. Reoccurring annual fees will not be charged. The NFTs are exclusive to memberships, but clients can buy their food and drinks using USD.
Flyfish Club is the second offering from Group. The company had earlier opened a Japanese restaurant serving omakase-style.
Not the first restaurant to support crypto
Flyfish Club is not the first restaurant to have crypto-related offerings in its services. The boom in NFTs and cryptocurrencies has created a niche that restaurants are exploring to attract a new clientele.
Recently, Crypto Street Restaurant in Florida opened a crypto-themed wall art restaurant. The menu was also inspired by cryptocurrency names.
