Meta previously announced plans to implement a new feature on its social media site, Instagram. The company just released an update to confirm that NFTs will be implemented on this platform in the future.
The Meta release allows creators and consumers to deliver a digital collectible on Instagram. It makes NFTs more accessible to a broader customer base, exciting potential adopters of these techniques.
Finally, Much-Hyped NFTs on Meta Platform Now
Meta, which is the parent company of Instagram & Facebook along with other platforms, announced that it will be testing NFTs using augmented reality through Spark AR in Instagram stories.
The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, has announced that they are expanding their test to creators around the world. They released more information in an announcement stating that after a successful beta with select US creators, creatives and collectors will be able to share their digital collectibles across social media like Instagram and Facebook.
In addition to Instagram, Facebook will begin to support NFTs. Meta has announced this detail, and Zuckerberg has explained that creators can cross-post their NFTs on Facebook account as well along with Instagram.
Meta has been trailing other platforms in the NFT space, but it has made remarkable advancements anyhow. The company began testing digital collectibles on Instagram earlier this May, the first signs that it would support NFTs.
Zuckerberg says the move is the first step in allowing digital collectibles to be shown on other apps within the Meta family, like Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp.
Online store of Meta for virtual avatars
Earlier, on Saturday, Meta announced that they are launching an online virtual boutique called Meta Avatars Store. The Meta Avatars Store will allow users to purchase clothing to style for their digital avatars with real funds. This announcement was made at an Instagram live stream, alongside Eva Chen, Instagram’s Vice President of Fashion Partnerships.
Facebook also announced that this new feature is being introduced as part of the Avatar Store on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. The store can be accessed through Facebook and Instagram, which will allow you to purchase digital clothes for your avatar.
To improve Facebook, Messenger and Instagram, the company is introducing 3D avatars. Plans are to move away from social media to virtual metaverse by gradually building infrastructure over time.
Meta believes that digital goods can create a thriving, active economy for its avatars in the future. To help achieve this goal, Meta has partnered with Balenciaga, Prada and Thom Browne to bring high-quality clothes to their digital clothing store.
