The Layer-1 blockchain network previously airdropped a total of about 20,076,150 APT tokens to 110,235 participants in the Aptos ecosystem back in October. At the time, the price of the token plunged sharply as a majority of the airdrop recipients proceeded to cash out their windfall on exchanges.
The token fell over 46% in 24 hours at the time. However, the current airdrop is not likely to have such a significant effect on the price of APT as the volume being airdropped is a lot less.
Aptos looking to grow its ecosystem rapidly
Aside from incentivizing participation with airdrops, the Aptos network is also carrying out other initiatives to expand its nascent ecosystem rapidly. Aptos Labs, the core developers of Aptos, has disclosed that it is also partnering with Binance’s Web3 Industry Recovery Initiative as a contributor.
Binance and other key crypto industry partners are looking to commit over $1 billion to be used to provide financial support to “the most promising and high-quality” crypto companies that need it most.
“The future of web3 is bright! We’re excited to support builders around the world who will shape it. Transparency is a key part of the Web3 Industry Recovery Initiative,“
The company said while disclosing its public address dedicated to the program.
Aptos Labs has also been expanding its team, recently hiring several former Solana staff such as Austin Virts, former Head of Marketing at Solana. Virt’s revealed in a tweet that he will be working directly with developers at Aptos to build protocol fundamentals for the entire ecosystem to benefit.
Aptos currently has eight incubation projects focused on launching products that bring real value to users which it has provided with $200 million in funding. The network has also been clinching new partnerships including one with NPIXEL, a Korean Triple-A gaming studio.
NPIXEL are the developers of Gran Saga which boasts 4 million downloads since its launch in Korea and Japan. Aptos and NPIXEL are joining forces to create METAPIXEL, a Web3 gaming ecosystem. The goal of their partnership is to create a triple-A game that boasts true ownership of game assets.
