- The IOTA Discord Builder Server focuses solely on technical development, enabling participants to collaborate on decentralized application (dApp) projects.
- The IOTA Foundation confirmed plans to transition its mainnet to the Rebased protocol, marking a critical step toward enhanced decentralization and network scalability.
In a recent attempt to encourage cross-collaboration within their ecosystem, the IOTA Foundation came up with the launch of an initiative. In fact, a newly dedicated Discord Builders Server was presented to developers, validators, and technology enthusiasts.
Significance Of The IOTA Builder Discord Server
The newly created IOTA Builder Server on Discord will be the hub where individuals will collaborate on the innovations for the IOTA ecosystem. In contrast to the existing community server, which will continue to be used for general discussion, this new server is to be used strictly for technical development.
The server aims to offer a focused environment that minimizes distractions through the delivery of “focused value” to participants, according to the foundation. Anyone, regardless of their level of experience in development, is free to join the platform and participate in collaboration on projects concerning decentralized application (DApp) development and other IOTA frameworks, as noted in our previous article.
Users can share ideas, resources, and solutions to network-specific challenges by participating in the server. The platform also allows newcomers and seasoned developers to interact with each other, providing opportunities for mentorship and skill-sharing.
IOTA Rebased Protocol Mainnet Launch
Moreover, in another move, the IOTA Foundation also confirmed plans to transition its mainnet to the Rebased protocol, signaling a shift in its approach to decentralization and network expansion, as per our previous news article. The Foundation had previously faced criticism for delays in delivering IOTA 2.0, which had created uncertainty about the project’s future. However, the Rebased protocol now represents a fresh direction for the ecosystem.
According to the foundation, describing the protocol, Rebased would upgrade the IOTA chain with better programmability, interoperability, and usability. The upgrades are intended to make IOTA’s technology more appealing to users, especially in the asset tokenization and dApp development spaces.
This shift is recognized as a threat by the foundation, referring to Rebased as a “make-or-break” decision for an ecosystem. However, it still maintains that this new protocol is well aligned with its vision for a decentralized and scalable network that can meet needs in real-world environments.
For further context, a governance vote to decide when the Rebased protocol would go live occurred between December 2 and 17, 2024. The proposal was passed by a landslide, and 98.37% voted in favor of it. A turnout of 7.52% ensured the decision was readily approved by the node operators using a GitHub pull request.
Although the exact date for the launch of the protocol on its mainnet is yet to be announced, the foundation restated that it will be done in 2025. In its communication on X (formerly Twitter), the organization said,
As we look ahead with the planned launch of IOTA Rebased Mainnet, we remain committed to delivering innovation, fostering adoption, and engaging our community.
