According to his son, Eric Trump, this new administration marks the beginning of a new era of crypto innovation in the United States. In an X post shared by Eric Trump, a renowned industry key player called David Sacks announced that “the reign of terror against crypto is over, and the beginning of innovation in America for crypto has just begun.”

Sacks’ appointment as the “White House A.I. & Crypto Czar” came on December 6, 2024. According to a CNF report, he would work on the legal framework for the crypto industry to bring clarity. Following the announcement, Elad Gil, investors of Coinbase, lauded the decision, claiming that this is a “strong move.”
Explaining his role, the founder of Kindred Ventures, Steve Jang, pointed out that Sacks would be a little involved in regulations but “not without some guardrails.” Throwing more light on this, Jang also disclosed that Sacks could prioritize the regulation of how AI is used in certain critical applications rather than regulating the development of the AI models.
Experts Commend Sacks’ Appointment as Crypto-Focused Administration Takes Shape
The Chief Investment Officer at cryptocurrency asset manager Astronaut Capital, Matthew Dibb, also believes that Sacks is technical and commercially competent to handle the position.
David has had somewhat of a hands-on approach to crypto over the years, at times holding coins such as Solana. He appears to be a lot more technically and commercially competent regarding crypto than most would think.
Trump’s crypto ambition was reaffirmed by his son, Eric, on Tuesday, stating that his father would certainly honor his promise of making America the crypto capital of the world.
We love Bitcoin, we love the industry, and frankly, it’s an industry that’s been totally under attack. We’re going to stop it. [Trump] frankly pledged to make America the crypto capital of the world. I hope everybody understands if we don’t embrace it now, we’re going to be left behind.
Currently, most of Trump’s key appointees have publicly expressed their interest in crypto. Vice President J.D. Vance disclosed in a federal disclosure last year that he holds $500,000 in Bitcoin. Fascinatingly, Trump has also appointed Paul Atkins as the new Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), pending the approval of the Senate, as mentioned in a CNF report. It is important to note that Atkins has been a long-term advocate of the asset class with consistent campaigns for the free market.
Another Bitcoin fanatic who has earned an appointment is Scott Bessent. According to reports, he holds $500,000 in Bitcoin via iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT).
