Institutions have returned to Bitcoin’s order books as crypto miner MARA Holdings adds $46.31 million worth of BTC and Michael Saylor hints at an upcoming Strategy purchase.

That’s as the largest crypto by market cap recovered from a strong correction towards the end of last week, which saw its price fall to as low as $109,219.01, according to CoinMarketCap data.

In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin’s price has risen over 2% to trade at $114,796.10 as of 1:00 a.m. EST. However, the crypto remains more than 7% in the red on the weekly time frame and has erased its losses over the past month as well.

BTC is also over 9% down from the all-time high (ATH) of $126,198.07 that it achieved a week ago.

Institutions Buy The Bitcoin Dip

The drop in the BTC price has been seen as an opportunity by institutional investors to buy the dip.

Citing on-chain data from Arkham Intelligence, Lookonchain said on X that MARA Holdings, which holds 52,850 BTC worth $6.12 billion, has added another 400 BTC to its balance sheet in the past 24 hours.

The move comes after MARA’s shares closed Friday’s trading session down more than 7%, Google Finance shows. This recent drop has erased the company’s gains over the past week as well. As a result, MARA shares are down over 5% in the past seven days.

According to data from Bitcoin Treasuries, MARA is currently ranked as the second-largest corporate Bitcoin holder.

Ranked at number one is Strategy, the firm that pioneered the crypto treasury trend when it started accumulating BTC back in 2020.

Following a series of Bitcoin purchases over the years since then, Strategy now holds 640,031 BTC in its reserves. However, this figure could increase in the next 24 hours as the company’s founder, Saylor, hints at another purchase.

In an Oct. 12 X post, Saylor shared a picture of the Saylor Tracker chart with the caption “Don’t Stop ₿elievin’.” Posts like these have historically been followed by announcements that Strategy has bought more BTC.

Analysts Predict Uptick For BTC If Key Levels Hold

As Bitcoin rebounds, analysts believe the crypto market leader’s price will continue to rise. However, there are varying predictions as to how strong Bitcoin’s price movements will be during this period.

One analyst, Mister Crypto, noted in an X post yesterday that Bitcoin is retesting the “golden cross,” which is a bullish technical pattern that has historically preceded rallies.

A golden cross happens when a short-term moving average like the 50-day MA crosses above a long-term moving average such as the 200-day MA, signaling that momentum is shifting from bearish to bullish.

In his post, the analyst noted that BTC’s previous golden crosses led to gains of 2,200% in 2017 and 1,190% in 2020.

If BTC holds above $110K, Mister Crypto believes that Bitcoin could undergo another parabolic move.

He added that Bitcoin’s current setup “looks incredibly strong,” and also said that a confirmed breakout could “absolutely explode” the crypto’s price in the coming weeks.

Another crypto analyst, Mac, also highlighted the $110K level as a key mark that must hold in order to prevent the current cycle from ending.

Mac said that the 4-hour Money Flow Index (MFI) is “deeply oversold,” which suggests that BTC could be due for a short-term bounce. The analyst also said that BTC’s current risk-to-reward setup looks favorable. However, he doesn’t expect BTC to surge, but rather experience “a little more upward chop.”

Meanwhile, analyst Michael van de Poppe said that Bitcoin’s recent drop below the 20-week MA does not signal the start of a bear market, but rather presents investors with a “massive opportunity” to buy BTC at a discount.

He labeled the event as a “massive outlier” and predicted that markets will begin to “trend back up.” Van de Poppe did say, however, that “buying pressure and confidence” needs to slowly return to the market in order for this broader recovery to happen.
