AI agent cryptos plunged over 7% in the past 24 hours, recording the steepest loss among all crypto sectors, but the new MIND of Pepe (MIND) token defied the downturn to surge past $4.3 million in presale.
Artificial Super Intelligence (FET), aixt by Virtuals (VIRTUAL), and Freysa AI (FAI) were among major tokens that led the sector down with losses of 8.3%, 8.1%, and 10.3%, respectively. AI Rig Complex was the only token among the top 10 to buck the downturn with a 16.1% pump, while OriginTrail was close to unchanged.
DeepSeek Hit The Market Hard
The AI sector has been shaken after China’s DeepSeek claimed it created an AI chatbot with only $5.6 million that can rival the far more costly ChatGPT. This news caused a market slump, with Nvidia, a top AI chip maker, losing nearly $600 billion in value on Monday.
Top US tech stocks recovered on January 28, with Apple up 3.65%, Amazon up 1.16%, and Meta Platforms up 2.17%. But there’s still uncertainty in the market, especially after Chinese tech giant Alibaba unveiled an upgraded version of its Qwen 2.5 AI model, claiming it outperforms DeepSeek.
